Rochester Theater Organ Concert

"THE EASTMAN BUNCH"

Imagine yourself seated in Rochester's Auditorium Center. The lights dim. Suddenly out of the proscenium arches descends the music of 1619 pipes, trumpets, clarinet, saxophone, drums, shimmering strings or marimbas. You are enveloped in sound as the spotlight finds a single artist at the white and gold console rising from the orchestra pit. This is Rochester's famous 4/23 theater Organ, truly a treasure preserved form a past era! You are in for a great afternoon of musical entertainment! For this special concert, your performers will be several students, plus faculty members, from the Eastman School of Music. You can look forward to a great variety with different performers, different styles, and different musical selections. Plus, you will enjoy a mid-day meal at one of your favorite- Old Country Buffet. Start out 2012 with a great Saturday afternoon outing. $66

There's no better way to throw a Celtic celebration than with Irish music sensation "CHERISH THE LADIES". The Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra, performing in Kodak Hall, will set the stage for an evening of exuberant set dancing, sensational singing and a heap o' humor. This group has earned a "four-leaf-clover" rating for their great performances all across America and abroad. Your meal will be prepared and served at FLAHERTY'S THREE FLAG INN, a family-owned and operated Irish Tavern and Restaurant. Menu items will include Irish Stew (family recipe), corned beef and cabbage, and a chicken selection. Put on your green, everyone can be Irish for a day! $119

Mayday Explorer

Today you'll visit the Birds and the Beasts of Wayne County. Huckleberry Swamp in North Rose is the first stop, providing extraordinary front row seats for wildlife watching. Visitors' are naturally attracted to this magical sanctuary for plants and wildlife, but what makes this place so special is the opportunity for everyone to enjoy it all up close and personal. A unique fully accessible, level boardwalk trail, with sturdy safe railing, takes you right into the heart of the open wetland. Your tour guide will explain how this wonderful wildlife haven came to be, and lead you on a leisurely walk to view the green ferns, early spring flowers, songbirds, geese, deer, beaver, turtles and frogs in their natural home.

The popular Steger Haus will prepare and seve a fine luncheon for your enjoyment, after lunch, its on to Cracker Box Palace, a farm animal haven near Alton. Farm animals of all types and sizes come here to recover from illness, neglect, or abuse. Residents receive veterinary care and are provide with a safe, comfortable and caring environment. Animals are available for adoption or may participate in a unique foster care program. Your visit will include entry to two large barns and several acres of outdoor pasture, with a hay wagon ride to take you around the farm. Cracker Box Palace is located on the site of the former Alasa Farms, which some of you may have visited in its heyday as an apple farm. Sightseeing in and around Sodus Bay will compliment your tour. Connect with nature, talk to the animals, and enjoy a beautiful spring day!  $66

The Hershey Farm Inn, always favorite in Lancaster County, will take care of your overnight accommodations. You will find 23 acres of surrounding gardens and peaceful walkways. There is a country store for your visit. Best of all, Partake of the Grand Smorgasbord for your evening. More than 100 delicious items are featured, including crisp salads, homemade soups, a gourmet bread bar, a unique potato bar, with both traditional PA Dutch recipes and modern American flavors on the hot food bars. Save room for the famous dessert bar, featuring a chocolate dipping fountain plus an endless variety of baked goods and individual desserts. The Breakfast Smorgasbord on Thursday morning features waffles and omelets made to order, all the usual breakfast items, plus scrapple and delicious bakes oatmeal.

On Thurday, your tour continues with an exciting visit to Penn's Cave and Wildlife Park.  The cavern tour is  a one hour guided adventure by boat on an underground stream. Along the limestone corridors, stalagmites, stalactites, flowstone cascades and draperies decorate the rooms, wile underwater trout swim and jump for food. The guided wildlife tour is a 90 minute journey over 1500 acres of forests and fields. You'll see native North American animals and birds, end even the Penn's Cave cougar. Your mid-day meal is served at the Penn's Cave café (on your own), and there is time for the gift shop.
